Cannock | Perrys Trail

Perry was the mascot for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games in 2022, and the Perry's Trail at Cannock Chase was purpose-built for the MTB competition which makes it a fun, challenging, fast flow modern circuit that drains well. Its relatively straightforward with no awkward, difficult or challenging sections but the bumps are quite big and the berms have relatively high banks if you choose that line. You get out of it what you are prepared to put in! Its well signposted where it crosses access roads in a number of places would make it suitable to section but its presented here as a single leg burning 3 mile challenge! There are more difficult, technical and challenging trails all over Cannock Chase as its one the first purposed MTB trail systems in UK from the 80s. Beware that Forestry England have not given permission for one wheel and have major clampdowns on Surron and similar despite allowing e-bikes - talking to the staff they are unsure what to do about us! Grounds cafe allows charging if you are nice and buy some food and they are not too busy that boards won't get in way of customers - its best to ride early morning with the keen MTB-ers or midweek, summer weekends midday are best to be avoided, you won't get a clean run for sure, you have been warned!
